Emerald Archer
Equity Expert. Change Maker
About me
I’m currently the Chief Program Officer at Girls Inc. of Orange County, where I channel my 15 years of research and advocacy into advancing gender equity. My career has been dedicated to tackling issues of gender bias and promoting fairness across diverse sectors—from the U.S. Armed Forces to corporate environments.
Before joining Girls Inc., I served as an associate professor of political science and led the Center for the Advancement of Women at Mount Saint Mary’s University in Los Angeles. In that role, I spearheaded initiatives in gender equity research, education, and policy analysis from 2017 to 2023. My commitment to advancing women’s higher education led me to serve as Executive Director of the Women’s College Coalition (WCC) in 2019, where I advocated for women’s universities across North America, fostering collaboration and sharing best practices to help these institutions thrive.
My previous experience includes serving as the Associate Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and a political science professor at Woodbury University in Burbank, CA. My scholarship focuses on gender equity, systemic discrimination, and women’s representation in non-traditional sectors. I’ve published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, contributed to research anthologies, and authored the book Women, Warfare and Representation: American Servicewomen in the Twentieth Century. I’m also a seasoned keynote speaker and a frequent contributor to media outlets such as Vox, NPR, Good Day LA, and Inc.com.
In addition to my academic and advocacy work, I consult for companies like Hulu and Luxury Brand Partners, helping them create more inclusive and equitable workplaces. My expertise is rooted in a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a deep commitment to making a difference.

Be informed. Shift culture.
